Excellent First Novel

Although I felt it a little slow to start, when the action finally revved up it really got amped. The dialogue is quick and witty, and this is clearly the area in which Mr. Blank excels. The detailed fighting scenes are screaming for a real-life reenactment, and there was one scene that made even this cold-hearted bitch well up with a couple of tears. Once the sometimes rambling background exposition was out of the way, the story soared and moved very quickly. The main character wasn't fully realized, but the secondary characters were very interesting and added a good dynamic to a story that had the potential to be too moralizing. It's clearly a first novel with some of the flaws that come along with such, but overall it was quite enjoyable and left me wanting to hear more about the adventures of this antihero.

Great Christmas Gift

Need a Christmas gift????? Well you have just found it in Memoirs of an Antihero. Within the first pages he has you crying and not long after that he has you rooting for him to beat the system. You will enjoy the fast action of the book and won't be able to put it down!!! It is well written, easy to read, and you will be cheering for the cast of characters.

As visual as you can get without pictures

There are so many moments in "Memoirs of an Anti-Hero" that just demand to be translated to graphic novel or filmed form. Such is the writing of Drew Blank, whose not thinly-veiled alter-ego is the protagonist of this action-packed novel that is, at times, touching, hilarious, shocking, sad and just plain fun. Blank is a little heavy on the descriptive language, but here it works, fully entrenching you inside of the book's semi-imaginary city of Cross. His dialog comes across easy as the best sitcoms and action scenes are plotted with careful choreographing and detail. "Memoirs" will leave you wanting more. And we hear a second book is on its way. Tasty!

Comic books aren't for nerds anymore..

This book is fantastic!! If all comic books were like this I would read more but they're not and that's what makes Drew Blank so special.The hero is human. No silly powers. Except to unapologetically do whatever he needs to do for someone he loves. From the first sentence he pulls you in and doesn't let go. The characters are so engaging and fun and badass that not only do you root for them,you want to join them as well! I can't wait to read his next book. Until then I'll keep reading this one over and over and over.....

Great new Author!!!

New authors are hit or miss with me. A friend suggested this book because I was looking for something new. I picked it up and didn't put it down until I read the last sentence. If you are looking for sharp and witty dialogue between characters dark humor and some sweet action scenes thrown in this book will not disappoint. That's not even the best part,this is not you typical graphic novel. There is actually a heart warming base to this story that makes you fall in love and root for the main character. I found myself wanting to know these people. It's one thing to like a good story, it's another thing to relate to the characters and want to know them in real life. I can't wait to see what this guy writes next!!!
